Hello! My name is Jason Dowden. I created Monster Strength for one reason: TO HELP PEOPLE.

I began seriously lifting when I was 17 years old. For the first few years of training, my progress was minor due to poor programing and diet. I started reading books on training, usually centered around bodybuilding. Unfortunately, these books had little effect on my progress. I then read a book written by a Southern California trainer. This book was centered around strength training. Rep ranges, loads, and diet were all very different from anything I was taught or that I had read up to this point. This form of training was a game-changer for me. I wondered why more people weren't training with heavier loads. In fact, to this day, I am still wondering the same question.

Unfortunately, I suffered an injury outside of training which required major surgery. After months and months of painful physical therapy, multiple doctor's visits, and very little progress, I went to see a specialist. After his examination, he told me my running and lifting days were over. I had just been told that the activity I loved to do most was no longer an option for me and I was devastated. However, I did not accept that fate. I began reading books about mobility. Soon after, I started doing my rehab. I still wanted to lift heavy because of its benefits, so I would lift what I could while focusing on moving better throughout each exercise. Soon, my strength returned, and my range of motion improved. The pain was subsiding throughout my body. I continued to improve my mobility and increase my loads. I was seeing how much better I felt, even when compared to before the surgery. I quickly realized that, if done correctly, mobility and strength go hand-in-hand with overall wellness. Today, I have zero limitations and feel better than ever! Through my experience, I learned a vital point to training: Without a strong foundation, the body will eventually give out. However, if trained properly, the human body is capable of doing just about anything your heart desires. I bring this experience to you! So, whether you're a teenager looking to dominate your sport, someone looking to compete in powerlifting, or just someone that wants to feel better in life, I can help you achieve your goals.

There are plenty of misconceptions floating around training with heavy loads. I want to clear up those misconceptions and show why everyone, from 10 years old to 90 years old, should have some form of strength training in their program. I bring over 20 years of personal experience, over ten years of training clients from middle school to grandparents (including being a strength and conditioning coach for two different high schools), multiple certifications, having the opportunity to work with elite trainers myself, seminars, books, and any other form of knowledge that helps me be a better trainer for you.
